Commonly known as the Belgian waffle, it is actually a Brussels waffle. Invented in the Flemish region of Belgium. Brussels’ waffles are big, rectangular and very light, which is a result of being leavened with yeast and eggs. They are always eaten warm and pair well with sweet or savoury toppings.
In cities all over Belgium the Liege Waffle is eaten hot. What makes it so special are the pearls of sugar within the yeast raised dough that caramelize as they are baked. This waffle is dense, chewy, sweet, rich and utterly delicious. Best served plain or with a dusting of powdered sugar.
This may not be a traditional European waffle, but it certainly is a favorite. There is no reason for you to miss out on the Scandilicious experience.

FAMILY RUN RESTAURANT
It begins in a kitchen many years ago with a Scandinavian woman named Synnove (Sunny). She patiently and lovingly prepared her recipes handed down to her from generations past. Generously sharing her goodies, with friends andt family and to all that entered her kitchen, for the best coffee, cookies and waffles around. Her kitchen was the place to gather. It was warm & inviting , the atmosphere was filled with laughter and stories,and the aroma was that of fresh baking, wafting with hints of vanilla, almond, cardamom and freshly brewed coffee.The seats around her table were always filled,our bellies always full and our hearts warmed with tradition, having spent another afternoon in Sunny’s kitchen.
For many years those recipes were a closely guarded secret… Well they still are of course, but the finished product is not. You see, we at Scandilicious think they are too good to be kept to ourselves any longer and we are sure you will agree. We know Sunny would be delighted to see everyone enjoying her treasured recipes & coffee, all gathered around our table or yours, filling your bellies and hearts with a little Norske tradition.
